Florence RedWolves News Release
The Florence RedWolves have announced that Head Coach Jared Barkdoll, will be returning for the 2013 season. Barkdoll, an assistant at Francis Marion, coached the RedWolves in 2012, and played for the team in 2006 and 2008, while playing at FMU.
"We are very happy that Jared is returning to our team. 2012 was a little rough for his first season as head coach, but our team played 100% every night and at the end we were in the hunt to make the playoffs. That is attributed to Jared and his staff keeping these guys in the game and figuring out ways to get the job done. We just lost a number of one run games but we were always competitive."
With no draft or practices, players are signed based on what they have done in the past and hope it translates with the wooden bat." "We feel that going into his second season, Jared has more experience in putting the team together in regards to playing at FMU. Jared and his staff have a vested interest in the RedWolves, both as a former player and now a coach. We are convinced that these factors will help him lead our team to a championship." "I look forward to working with him this off season in assembling the 2013 roster. The FMU field is a totally different setup compared to Legion Field and that will vastly change the type of team you bring in to play on a bigger field for 28 games. With the wooden bat, we won't be sitting around waiting on the three run homer like you could at Legion, this field is a lot bigger and the strategy will definitely change for games." Jamie Young, GM
Owner, Kevin Barth, said "we are truly excited to have Jared back with us for another season. We were proud of the way he handled himself as head coach of the RedWolves, and almost every single night, we had a chance to win the game. That is a direct reflection on the quality of our head coach and his staff. FMU and the RedWolves are very lucky to have him."
The Florence RedWolves are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
