
Banks, Masoli & Tasker Sweep CFL Top Performers of the Week

The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Brandon Banks, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and wide receiver Luke Tasker were named first, second and third CFL Top Performers of the Week, respectively, for Week 12, marking the first time the Tiger-Cats have swept the league's weekly honours.
Banks, 30, recorded nine receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns, one carry for six yards, three punt returns for 33 yards and one missed field goal return for 23 yards in Hamilton's 42-28 win over the Toronto Argonauts in the Labour Day Classic. The six-year CFL veteran moved into second place in Ticats' history in combined yards in Week 12, passing Tommy Grant (10,213). Through 10 games this season, the 5-7, 150-pound native of Garner, North Carolina has registered 63 receptions for 880 yards and five touchdowns, two carries for five yards, 19 punt returns for 186 yards, one kickoff return for 18 yards and one missed field goal return for 23 yards. The Kansas State product has posted 100-plus receiving yards in seven of 10 games in 2018. League-wide this season, Banks ranks third in receiving yards (880), tied for sixth in receiving touchdowns (five), second in receptions (63) and tied for third in reception targets (92).
Masoli, 30, completed 26 passes on 35 attempts (74.3%) for 385 yards, three touchdowns, one interception and a 126.5 efficiency rating, while adding five carries for 22 yards in the Labour Day Classic. Through 10 games in 2018, the 5-10, 228-pound native of San Francisco, California, has completed 231 of 347 pass attempts for 3,269 yards with 12 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The University of Mississippi product has also registered 43 carries for 336 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Through Week 12, Masoli ranks second in the CFL in passing yards (3,269), third in passing touchdowns (12) and 10th (first among quarterbacks) in rushing yards (336). This marks the third time Masoli has been named a CFL Top Performer of the Week this season. He was also named a Top Performer of the Month for June.
Tasker, 27, caught eight passes for 143 yards and one touchdown in Monday's win over the Argos. In eight games this season, the 5-11, 189-pound native of East Aurora, New York has registered 41 receptions for 645 yards and four touchdowns. The six-year CFL veteran has posted two of his three highest single-game receiving yards totals in his career over the past two weeks, including a career-best 156 yards in Week 11. Tasker currently ranks tied for fourth in the CFL in receiving yards after contact (306), eighth in receiving yards (645), tied for eighth in receiving touchdowns (four), tied for 14th in receptions (41) and 15th in reception targets (60).
The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
