Durham, N.C. -- Bangor's Donnie Ross and New Haven County's Tony Harden were selected by SportsTicker today as the Northeast League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on June 20.

Ross, who follows fellow Lumberjack Willie King as the Batter of the Week, had 11 hits in 27 at-bats for a .407 average, while reaching base 42.9 percent of the time and slugging 1.074. In addition, he hit five home runs for a total of seven RBI and scored six times for Bangor.

A Tennessee graduate, Ross is in his second season of Independent Baseball after spending four years in affiliated ball, mostly on the single-A level. He currently leads the Lumberjacks in average (.352), home runs (8), hits (31) and slugging percentage (.727).

Harden, who is the first Cutter in team history to win an NEL weekly award, came within three outs of becoming the fourth Northeast League player to toss a no-hitter on June 18. Bangor's Mike Grasso ended Harden's attempt when he singled to lead off the ninth inning. Harden then retired the next three batters for a one-hitter, the 10th in league history. Now in his seventh season of Independent Baseball, he finished the game with 12 strikeouts, while walking two for New Haven County, which has won seven straight.
