San Angelo Bandits News Release

San Angelo, TX - As the San Angelo Bandits prepare for their inaugural 2013 season, one of the processes building the foundation of the roster is to insure that cornerstones are set in place. One such cornerstone is WR/KR AJ Allen.

Allen (5'10" 195), out of the University of Central Arkansas, sees the Bandits as a great opportunity to achieve his goal of playing in the CFL or NFL. "I believe playing for this organization will help expand my career. The organization is a great fit for my skills and we have a lot to offer each other."

Ryan Jones, a scout for the NFL commented, "Other professional scouts compare his abilities at WR/RB like a Percy Harvin and his return skills like a Devin Hester."

San Angelo Head Coach, Chris Simpson agrees, "AJ is a tremendous athlete. The opportunity to get a young man with his skill set is a solid step toward building our roster."

"We are real excited about being able to recruit this quality of a player, added Bandits Owner Randy Sanders. He could have gone anywhere and chose to come to our franchise and our community."

Allen's collegiate career was followed by several opportunities in the professional ranks that included stints in the CFL, AFL and IFL.

Added Allen, "That is the reason I decided to come to play for the San Angelo Bandits. I had several offers from different teams but, I know at the end of the day, Coach Simpson has won a lot of previous games and championships. By me playing for the Bandits, it opens doors for my future looks by the NFL & CFL."

Those open doors may come sooner rather than later for Allen. When camp starts at the end of February for the Bandits, there will be several pro scouts in town to observe AJ up close.

"The "Up Side" for AJ is awesome to watch, stated Simpson. What he brings to this organization is good for everyone involved including his teammates."

"I appreciate signing with San Angelo, commented Allen. This organization has been very receptive to me and I am grateful. I can't wait to do my part on the field and also do whatever I can in the community."
