Bandits Reach One-Year Extension with Gano

September 14, 2018 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) - Chicago Bandits News Release

ROSEMONT - The Chicago Bandits have signed infielder/catcher Courtney Gano to an extension through the 2019 season, team officials announced Friday afternoon.

As a rookie in 2018, Gano amassed a .384 batting average during the regular season and slugged five home runs with 26 RBI. The West Covina, California, product appeared in 31 games, logging tie at catcher, first base, shortstop and third base.

"We made it a priority to re-sign Courtney," Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. "She proved to be a valuable contributor both at the plate and around the infield defensively last season and we're happy to have her aboard for the 2019 season."

The former University of Washington standout enjoyed an outstanding 2017 campaign playing overseas with the Italian-based Softball Club Forlì before making the move to the NPF. Gano posted a .540 clip at the plate across 18 starts in Italy, including a pair of home runs and 17 RBI.

Gano began the 2018 season with the Bandits on a torrid pace and collected eight hits to pace the league with a .615 average through her first four games. She earned Rookie of the Week honors as her impressive debut aided the Bandits in a four-game sweep of the Cleveland Comets to start the year.

The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the 2019 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
