ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits announced today that they have agreed to a one-year contract extension with pitcher/utility player Tatum Edwards for the 2016 season.
"Bandit Nation makes me feel at home and a part of something bigger," exclaimed Edwards. "There was no question in my mind about re-signing; these girls are incredible and playing with my sister (Taylor) again is obviously the icing on the cake."
The 23-year-old Murrieta, Calif. native joined the Bandits, with her twin sister Taylor, in 2015 via a trade with the Rebellion. For the Bandits last season, Edwards was 3-3 in the circle with a 4.81 earned run average over 27.2 innings pitched. She owns a career NPF record of 4-6 with one save.
"We've really been working hard to bring back as many pieces from last season's team as possible and Tatum fits that agenda," said GM Aaron M. Moore. "Tatum picked up some big wins and logged some important innings for us last season and she really started to find her niche on our team towards the end of the year.
"I really believe that 2016 will be her best in an NPF uniform because she knows her role and will come in ready to make a solid contribution from day one!"
Edwards, who was originally signed as a free agent in 2014 by the Rebellion, starred collegiately at Nebraska University before entering the NPF. In her junior season at Nebraska, Edwards notched 30 victories in the circle for the Huskers and was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and second team All-American. Edwards finished her outstanding career at Nebraska with a career record of 70-28 and 2.02 ERA in the circle. She also posted a .292 career batting average with 46 home runs, 38 doubles and 158 RBIs. Her 46 home runs place her fourth on the all-time list at Nebraska.
