Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Quad Cities River Bandits beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-2, Thursday night at Parkview Field. *Matt Bower* hurled a career-long seven innings to get the win while *Hector Roa* got the scoring started with a second-inning home run. *Pat Porter* had three hits in the win and *Anthony Hermelyn* and *Connor Goedert* each provided an RBI. It was the first win for the River Bandits over Fort Wayne since 2013 and it moved Quad Cities back above .500 for the fourth time in the second half.

The River Bandits (11-10, 42-48) got another strong performance from their starting pitcher. Bower (3-0) went seven innings, surpassing his previous career-long of 6.1 frames, and allowed two runs on six hits while striking out eight without issuing a walk. Both TinCaps (9-12, 45-46) runs against him came in the fourth inning when a hit batter and back-to-back hits tied the game.

Quad Cities took their first lead of the game in the second inning. On the first pitch of the inning, Roa blasted his second home run of the year over the left field wall. Porter followed up with a double and, after a sacrifice bunt and groundout, Hermelyn smacked a two-out single to left to plate Porter. After the TinCaps tied it in the fourth, Hermelyn scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to regain the lead. Quad Cities added an insurance run in the eighth inning when *Kristian Trompiz* tripled with two outs and scored on a Goedert single. Trompiz had a pair of hits in the game, as did *Myles Straw*.

TinCaps starter *Thomas Dorminy* took the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. *Justin Ferrell* tossed a scoreless eighth and got a strikeout to start the ninth, but back-to-back walks brought the potential winning run to the plate and chased him from the game. *Ralph Garza* took over and forced a groundout and strikeout to consecutive batters to end the game with his sixth save in seven opportunities this season.

The Bandits look to take the series from the TinCaps in Friday's rubber match. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. CT with *Franklin Perez* (1-2, 3.32) taking the ball for Quad Cities against *Jerry Keel* (5-8, 2.75). You can catch the action with *Jake Levy* on the call, starting with the LLOYD Agencies Pregame Show at 5:50 on 1170 AM K-BOB, riverbandits.com and the TuneIn app.
