Bandits announce head coach
The Sioux City Bandits of the United Indoor Football are pleased to appoint Jose Jefferson as Head Coach for the 2005 season. Jefferson is a graduate of the University of South Dakota where he earned a scholarship in Track and Field. His coach career started at Westside High School in Omaha in 1994, where he coached until 1998. Jose got his first head coaching position in 1999 with the Lincoln Lightning of the Indoor Football League, finishing with a 10-5 record. In 2000, he coached the Lightning to a 12-4 record and a repeat of the IFL South Division Championship that earned him the Western Conference Coach of the Year. In 2001, the Lightning finished 8-8 in their first year of competition in Arena 2; in 2002, the team ceased operations with playing a game. The Lincoln team reorganized in 2002 as the Lincoln Capitols to play in the NIFL and finished with an 11-4 record, winning the Pacific North Division and earning Jefferson his second Coach of the Year Award. Jose moved on to coach the Green Bay Blizzard of Arena 2 in the 2003 season. In 2004, he came back to Lincoln to coach the Capitols for six games. Jefferson has also coached at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE and Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Jose replaces Interim Head Coach Ervin Bryson, who left in October to take the head coach position with the NIFL Expansion Daytona Beach franchise.
