Bandits Acquire Two Second-Round Picks

BUFFALO, NY (February 10, 2012) --- Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler today announced that the Bandits have acquired a second-round pick in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft and a second-round pick in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft from the Edmonton Rush in exchange for rookie defenseman Jeff Cornwall, Buffalo's second-round pick (15th overall) in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.

The Bandits have also announced the release of transition player Kyle Sweeney and the activations of defenseman Travis Irving and transition player Jay Thorimbert from the team's practice squad.

The second-year pro Irving, Buffalo's first-round pick (9th overall) in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft, recorded three points (1+2), 20 loose balls and 18 PIM in 10 regular season games in 2011. Irving added five loose balls in two playoff appearances last year.

The four-year veteran Thorimbert registered six points (1+5), 81 loose balls and won 86 faceoffs in 14 regular season games with the Bandits and collected five loose balls in two playoff games in 2011. Thorimbert, who spent the 2009 season with the Boston Blazers and played for the Minnesota Swarm in 2010, has scored 32 points (14+18) and recovered 317 loose balls in 44 career NLL games.
