Edmonton Rush News Release
Edmonton, AB--Edmonton Rush have acquired defender Jeff Cornwall from the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for a 2012 second round draft pick and a 2014 second round draft pick.
Cornwall, 6'2, 210 lbs was the Bandits second round selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft and is very familiar to General Manager and Head Coach Derek Keenan.
"This trade fits the mold of most of the other moves we made prior to the start of the season. Jeff Cornwall is a young, strong, fast and athletic defender. He will fit seamlessly into our defensive system." states Keenan
"Although young he has a weath of experience with a successful Jr. A program in Coquitlam. He's competed for and won minto cups and played well for Buffalo early this season "
He has played five games to record (1) assist and (7) loose balls. The 21 year old currently attends Simon Fraser University in Vancouver as mathematics major. Cornwall's brother Travis is a forward on the Calgary Roughnecks.
The Rush will meet the divisional Minnesota Swarm at Excel Energy Centre tonight at 6:30 p.m. MST. Fans can watch the action at www.nll.com on Livestream.
The Rush returns home to action on Friday, February 24 to face former team captain Brodie Merrill now with the Philadelphia Wings. Face off at 7:00 p.m.
