Milwaukee Wave News Release
Baltimore, MD - In a back and forth contest, the Wave came up just a little short at the end of the game. Milwaukee lost to the Baltimore Blast 6-5 in a game that saw four ties and five lead changes. The Wave's four-game winning streak ends as they lost for just the second time this season away from the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Eduardo Sebrango got the Wave off to a good start with a goal 2:40 into the game. More than 10 minutes would pass after Sebrango's goal before the Blast knotted the score at one. The teams remained tied until late in the second quarter when Adauto Neto put a Machel Millwood pass into the net at 11:04. The Wave continued the back and forth nature of the game when Todd Dusosky evened the score at two with 13:14 remaining in the first half.
Todd Dusosky struck again for the Wave as he gave Milwaukee a 3-2 lead a few minutes into the third quarter. Not to be outdone, Machel Millwood of the Blast scored his second goal of the game a few minutes later to again tie the score. From there, Milwaukee gained momentum with goals by Troy Dusosky and Jonathan Greenfield. With those goals, the Wave led 5-3 after three quarters. In their 12 previous games leading after three, Milwaukee was unbeaten.
The Wave had the momentum going into the fourth quarter as they had scored four of the game's last five goals going back to the second quarter. The defenses held until the 10:25 mark when David Bascome closed the gap to one. That's when the momentum shifted toward Baltimore. In the next three minutes, the Blast would go on to tie the game and then take the lead at 13:24. The Blast's fourth quarter rally ended the Wave's four-game winning streak and sends Milwaukee into the All-Star break with a loss.
Five members of the Milwaukee Wave (Todd and Troy Dusosky, Greg Howes, Matt Schmidt and Nick Vorberg) will participate in the 2006 Cousins Subs MISL All-Star Game presented by Time Warner Cable on Saturday, February 11 at 7:05 p.m. The game will feature a team of MISL stars against the Mexican Federation's National Futbol Rapido team.
