Balanced effort leads Anaheim past Tulsa
January 17, 2007 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Jan. 16, 2006 - Seven Anaheim players scored in double figures as the Arsenal topped the Tulsa 66ers, 107-92, in the final day of the 2007 NBA Development League MLK Showcase Wednesday at the Sioux Falls Arena.
Both teams finish showcase play at 1-1 as Anaheim improved to 9-14 overall. Tulsa fell to 10-12.
Forward Jawad Williams led the Arsenal with 21 points followed by Daryl Dorsey with 17. James Augustine had a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Tyler Smith and Milone Clark recorded 13 and 10 points, respectively.
"It definitely was a team effort," Anaheim Arsenal coach Larry Smith said. "We got stops when we had to because we had energy tonight. When you put that combination together, good things happen. We moved the ball around well and that equaled good opportunities for us."
The Arsenal, who were up by as many as 22 in the third, shot 55-percent (42-of-77) from the field to Tulsa's 44 percent (37-of-83).
Alan Anderson led all Tulsa scorers with 28 points, while Denham Brown contributed 12 and Cheyne Gadson 10.
Tulsa visits the Austin Convention Center Friday for a 7:30 p.m. MT tip against the Austin Toros. Anaheim faces the Colorado 14ers at 6 p.m. MT at the Broomfield (Colo.) Event Center.
