Bakersfield, C.A. (August 4, 2010) - The Bakersfield Jam announced today that the team will hold two sets of open tryouts for the 2010-11 season. Detailed information for both is as follows:
Ë Bakersfield Area - Saturday and Sunday, August 28 and 29:
o $150 pre-registration fee (arriving at Bakersfield Jam offices no later than 5pm on Friday, August 20; $200 for day-of registration.
o Location: Bakersfield Jam Events Center located at 1400 Norris road in Bakersfield, CA.
o Tryouts will be held from 9am to 2pm on both days.
o Lodging: Holiday Inn Express located at 1400 Norris Road, Bakersfield, CA (661-395-9800 - ask for Kal Patel). Rate is $70 a night (give code "Season 3"). Stay includes breakfast.
Ë Los Angeles Area - Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12:
o $150 pre-registration fee (arriving at Bakersfield Jam offices no later than 5pm on Friday, September 3; $200 for day-of registration).
o Location: HAX facility located at 3203 Jack Northrop Ave. in Hawthorne, CA.
o Tryouts will take place on Saturday from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 5pm. Tryouts will take place on Sunday from 10am to 12pm.
o Lodging: Holiday Inn Express, 11436 Hawthorne Boulevard, Hawthorne, CA (310-973-3333). Rate is $70 a night (give code "NBA"). Stay includes breakfast.
Open tryouts offer athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of NBA Development League coaches while they compete to earn a position in the team's official training camp. Training camp is scheduled to begin in mid-November.
Applicants must be eligible to play in the NBA Development League and are required to pre-register by submitting the official registration, release, disclosure and background check forms, along with a $150 nonrefundable fee. Tryout forms are available online (www.bakersfieldjam.com). Completed forms and entry fee must be mailed to secure a spot in the tryout camp. Participants who register after the deadline or the first day of the tryout will be charged $200.
