Mississippi RiverKings News Release
LAFAYETTE, La. - Linden Bahm scored a pair of goals including the game-winning goal with under a minute to play in regulation as the Mississippi RiverKings (14-7-3) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Louisiana IceGators (9-12-3) on Thursday night.
The RiverKings got on the board first just past the midway point of the first period. Ryan Marcuz, fresh out of the penalty box, snuck behind the defense, took an Ian Young pass and beat Brad Barone on a breakaway to put the RiverKings up 1-0.
After a scoreless second period, Louisiana wasted little time tying the game in the third. On the power play, Luke Sandler buried home a rebound off a Dylan Hood shot to tie the game at one.
The RiverKings regained the lead late. Off a face-off in the Louisiana zone, Mike Grace's shot deflected off of Linden Bahm and trickled past Barone to put the RiverKings up 2-1. Then, with the IceGator net empty, Ryan Marcuz beat out an icing call and set up Bahm for the insurance marker as the RiverKings picked up a 3-1 victory in Louisiana.
Garrett Sheehan (1-3-2) picked up his first professional win after stopping 18 of 19 shots against. Brad Barone (2-4-1) stopped 32 of 34 shots against in the loss.
The RiverKings were held scoreless on six power play opportunities. Louisiana went 1-6 with the man-advantage.
The RiverKings return to Concorde Career College Ice at the Landers Center on Friday, January 15 as they look to Pack the House for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, presented by Belhaven University. All tickets are discounted $5 anywhere in the building and are available at the Landers Center box office or on Ticketmaster.
