
Backman Signs With The Dallas

Former Green Bay Gamblers forward Sean Backman has signed a one-year NHL contract with the Dallas Stars.
Backman led the Green Bay Gamblers in scoring during the 2005-06 season with 56 points (29g, 27a) in 57 games played. He ranked tied for eighth overall in USHL scoring and ranked tied for fifth with 29 goals, five of which were game-winners. The Cos Cob, Connecticut native led the entire League in shots (253) and ranked tied for fifth with a plus-24 rating. He also established two USHL highs that season when he fired 12 shots and scored four goals in a 6-3 win vs. Tri-City on November 3rd, 2005.
Backman recently completed a four-year collegiate career at Yale University. This season he scored 35 points (21g, 14a) in 29 games ranking 13th in the nation with 21 goals and was selected as the Ivy League Player of the Year. In 122 career games at Yale, he amassed 126 points (77g, 49a) ranking seventh on the school's all-time scoring list. He was named First Team All-Ivy in all four seasons. Following his freshman season, he was tabbed as both the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and ECAC Co-Rookie of the Year.
