Aviators rally in bottom of ninth

Coastal Bend Aviators News Release

ROBSTOWN, Texas - The Aviators came from behind in the bottom of the ninth to record a much needed win. The victory evens the series at two games a piece.

J.J. Trujillo took the hill for the Aviators going the distance picking up his third win. He scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs. Two solo homeruns by Juan Camacho accounted for the Diablo output. Averaging just under 12 pitches per inning, Trujillo consistently kept El Paso off balance.

Heading to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Aviators found themselves down to their last three outs. Pinch hitter Kevin Henry led off with a controversial groundout to short. Carlos Figueroa followed up with a hit to the gap in right centerfield, placing him on third with a triple. Stephen Morales followed with a ground ball to shortstop, allowing the run to score. An errant throw by Josh Fulton sailed into the Diablo dugout, allowing Morales to reach second base safely. Matt Mann singled to right field driving in the tying run. Right fielder, Carlos Sepulveda misplayed the hit giving Mann the extra 90 feet, putting him at second base. Ben Tinius flew out to center for the second out for the inning. Designated-hitter, Edwin Maldonado drove in the winning run with a line drive single to right.

The come-from-behind win will hopefully give the Coastal Bend a much needed shot-in-the-arm. The rubber match tomorrow will give us the opportunity to still take the series.
