Aviators pound El Paso, 16-5

EL PASO, Texas – The Coastal Bend Aviators defeated the El Paso Diablos 16-5 Monday night at Cohen Stadium. The win gave the Aviators the split in the four-game series. The Aviators bats pounded out 22 hits in the game.

Edwin Maldonado got things going in the third inning with a grand slam making the score 4-0. Maldonado finished the game 4 for six with 5 RBI.

The Aviators struck again in the sixth inning with a three-run double from Matt Mann. Mann finished the game 3 for 5 with five RBI.

Kevin Henry hit his first career homerun, a two run shot, in the ninth inning.

Elliott Shaw (1-1) started the game and picked up his first win of the season. Brad Esarey (2-3) took the loss for the Diablos.

The Aviators return home on Tuesday to take on Pensacola in a three-game series. Its two-for-Tuesday as well as Tropical/Hawaiian night. Tickets are available through the Aviator’s website, or call (361) 387-8585. All games are broadcast on KCCT 1150 AM, and the Aviators website.
