Aviators Announce First Signings For 2007 Season
Robstown, TX - The Coastal Bend Aviators announced today that they have resigned 1st Baseman Bryon Smith and Right Handed Pitcher Bryan Heaston for the 2007 season.
Bryon Smith, a 27 year old out of Texas Tech, is entering his sixth season in independent baseball. Former teams include the San Angelo Colts and Forth Worth Cats both former members of the Central Baseball League. Smith, a right handed batter, Smith hit .292 with five homeruns and 53 RBI in 95 games for the Aviators in the 2006 season.
In his first year of Professional Baseball, Bryan Heaston help lead his team to their second Frontier League Championship Title in 2002. Heaston was picked up in the post season by the Mariners Organization and played two years of affiliated ball in Wisconsin. Upon his release Heaston signed with the Edinburg Roadrunners in 2005 and joined the Aviators in 2006 where he had an impressive 7-4 record for the season.
The Coastal Bend Aviators play in the American Association, a professional minor league of baseball with clubs in St. Paul, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux City, IA, Lincoln, NE, St. Joseph, MO, Shreveport, LA, Pensacola, FL, El Paso and Forth Worth, TX.
