May 13, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES -- Avenger wide receiver/linebacker Joe Douglass tore the rotator cuff in his left shoulder and will miss the remainder of the 2004 season. The injury occurred during L.A.'s final offensive possession in Sunday's 63-55 loss to the defending ArenaBowl champion Tampa Bay Storm.

Douglass, who played in all 13 games for the Avengers this season, had 35 catches for 432 yards and nine touchdowns. He has been placed on the injured reserve list. To fill Douglass' spot on the 22-man active roster, Los Angeles has activated rookie WR/LB Jerome Riley off the injured reserve list.

Riley, who was a three-sport star at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, Calif., has played in just two games this season for the Avengers and has yet to catch a pass. He also attended Moorpark (Calif.) College, Los Angeles Valley College and Compton (Calif.) College, before enrolling at Washington State University, where he caught 36 passes for 630 yards and four scores as a senior in 2002.

The Avengers (7-6) will face the New York Dragons (8-5) on Sunday, May 16, at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y. Kickoff is set for noon (Pacific) and the game will be televised on KNBC Channel 4.

The next home game for the Avengers will be on Saturday, May 22, versus the Las Vegas Gladiators. That game will be held at STAPLES Center with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans at that game will receive a "Mark & Brian" bobblehead doll. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com.
