Avalanche Tops Wild, 2-1

PALMER, Alaska. - The Wenatchee Wild suffered a 2-1 loss tothe Alaska Avalanche Wednesday night at the Palmer Ice Arena in Palmer, Alaska.The win created a 3-way tie for first place in the West Division between theWild, Avalanche and Fairbanks Ice Dogs.

The Avalanche drew first blood in the contest when BrandonBrossoit recorded an unassisted marker with 1:24 remaining before the firstintermission. Andy Pearson gave the Avalanche a 2-goal lead when he scored 31seconds into the second frame. Jacob Barber and Daniel Senkbeil assisted.

The Wild scored its first goal of the contest at the 12:15mark of the third period on Ben Carey's(Centennial, Colo.) unassisted marker. It was Carey's sixth goal and 13thpoint of the season. However, the Wild could not tie up the contest down thestretch. It was Wenatchee's third straight loss in four games during its roadtrip in Alaska.

Alaska goaltender Landon Peterson made 30 saves on 31 shotsto improve his record to 12-8. Wild netminder Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, Minn.) stopped 24-of-26 shots but wascharged with his sixth loss of the season. Both teams went 0-for-6 on the powerplay.

The Wild (13-9) will conclude its Alaskan road trip with apair of games against the Kenai River Brown Bears on Friday and Saturday. Bothgames are slated for 8:30 p.m. (PST) starts.
