
Avalanche Host 2007 Job Fair on Saturday

SALEM, VA - The Salem Avalanche, Class-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, will be hosting their annual Job Fair on Saturday, March 3, 2007 from 10AM - 2PM at Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium in the team's administrative offices.
"This is a great opportunity for people to come out and meet the staff and apply for the wide variety of positions we have available this spring and summer," said Allen Lawrence, the Avalanche's Senior Asst. General Manager. "From Bat Boys to Beer Vendors, we have a position for all energetic, hard-working individuals.
The Avalanche will be hiring in all departments, including Bat Boys, Ticket Sales, Ticket Takers, Customer Service, Stadium Ushers, Promotions Team, Diamond Girls, Mascot Operations, Merchandise Store Clerks, Yearbook Sales, Games Area Attendants and Security. Additionally, Salem Concessions -- Food Service operators for the Ballpark -- will be hiring Cashiers, Cooks, Vendors and all Food Service-related positions as well.
"We employ between 150 - 200 employees over the course of the season," said Scott Burton, Director of Food and Beverage for the Avalanche. "This is a great first job for high school students, summer job for college kids, second job for teachers and perfect for retirees."
The Avalanche and Salem Concessions are accepting applications for all positions for applicants ages 16 and up. Summer positions are available for those ages 14 and up; Bat Boys are eligible for employment at 14 years of age. All applicants much be able to provide employment eligibility verification and are subject to background checks.

The Avalanche open the 2007 season versus the Frederick Keys on Thursday, April 5th at 7:07PM. Opening Night is also a world-famous Avalanche Friends and Family Night, presented by Bud Light and WROV. The first 1,000 fans will receive a magnet schedule, compliments of Williams Lighting Galleries, and Post-Game Fireworks are presented by nTelos and One-Stop Cellular.

Fan Fest 2007 will be held on Saturday, March 31 from 10AM - 2PM. Admission is free, and all fans will receive a free Valleydale hot dog and an ice cold Pepsi. There will be face painters and clowns for the kids, as well as an opportunity to try out all the new interactive inflatable zone for the kids.
