Avalanche Affiliate Sundogs Receive Eight Award Nominations at CHL Conference

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs Hockey Club and its far-reaching success during its Inaugural Season in 2006-07 was recognized at the 2007 Central Hockey League Summer Conference Saturday, June 16 with the first-year club receiving eight of a possible 15 nominations including CHL Franchise of the Year.

Arizona Sundogs Owner and Governor Eric Lacroix was awarded the 2006-07 CHL Leadership Award "presented annually to the Central Hockey League franchise owner or governor who has most distinguished himself in the area of franchise development and overall contributions to the CHL."

Sundogs President Brent Thiessen was nominated for two awards on the evening including CHL Executive of the Year. Thiessen took home the 2006-07 CHL Corporate Partnership Sales Executive of the Year award "presented annually to the Central Hockey League executive who has best demonstrated excellence and leadership in the area of Corporate Partnership Sales." It is the third time that Thiessen has won the award, the previous two times coming with the Colorado Eagles organization.

Other awards the Sundogs were finalists for in their first year of operation include CHL Community Relations Franchise of the Year, Game Operations Franchise of the Year, Marketing Franchise of the Year, Merchandising Franchise of the Year and CHL Franchise of the Year, awarded "annually to the Central Hockey League franchise which best exemplifies operational excellence under the CHL system."

"I'm extremely proud of our organization and the success we saw in our first year of operations," said Sundogs President Brent Thiessen. "Being nominated for eight awards including CHL Franchise of the Year in just our first year speaks volumes. It didn't come without the guidance of our ownership and hard work and dedication of our entire staff."
