Memphis Redbirds News Release

Memphis, Tenn. - AutoZone Park is set to host Paint the Park Pink day on Sunday, May 18 in honor of breast cancer awareness.

On the field the Redbirds will wear pink jerseys in their game against Oklahoma scheduled for 1:05 p.m. After the game the jerseys will be auctioned off on ebay with the proceeds going to the Komen Foundation and the Memphis Redbirds Foundation. The bases will also be pink and the 'Birds front office staff will wear pink in support of the day.

"The Redbirds and AutoZone Park bring our community together year round and there can be no better cause than helping focus our fans on raising awareness of breast cancer and the toll it takes on some many women," Redbirds President/Baseball Operations Dave Chase said. "It's imperative we continue to battle and, eventually, defeat this devastating disease."

Prior to the game there will be a parade of breast cancer survivors and ribbon recognition on the field with a moment of silence for the late Pat Ross, who served as the president of the local Komen Foundation chapter. The Baptist Mobile Mammography unit will be on-site with an educational display.
