Austin Spurs News Release
Austin, TX March 29, 2011 - The Austin Toros and Texas Gas Service present "Go Green" brought to you by Wellhome at Cedar Park Center on Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. The Toros are challenging the community to get involved in keeping Central Texas beautiful by coming out to the Cedar Park Center to learn more about local environmental programs.
"As an ambassador of our local community, the Austin Toros are proud supporters of the "Go Green" initiative and want to make our fans aware of the importance of being environmentally conscious," said Peter Lubell, Toros Chief Operating Officer.
Toros' players will wear green jerseys to show support for recycling, environmentally safe products, and energy saving programs offered by the official game sponsor Texas Gas Service, along with other "go green" initiatives provided by Wellhome. The green jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds to benefit the non-profit organization, Austin Meals on Wheels and More. Meals on Wheels delivers daily hot meals to the elderly, disabled, and homebound in the greater Austin area.
Fans are encouraged to join the Toros in their efforts by wearing green to Saturday's game. Fans caught "going green" may be selected for special prices during the game.
The Toros face the Reno Bighorns tonight at 9:00p.m. CT in Reno. Fans can watch the game live on NBA Futurecast. Individual and group tickets to the remaining Toros games may be purchased by calling (512) 236-8333 or visiting austintoros.com or ticketmaster.com.
