Austin FC News Release
Austin, TEXAS - First half goals from Diego Rubio and Jáder Obrian helped Austin FC to a 2-0 victory over LA Galaxy on Saturday afternoon at Q2 Stadium. The attendance of 20,738 marked the 59th consecutive MLS home sellout for Austin, extending the league's longest active streak.
Rubio opened the scoring for Austin in the 7th minute with his team-high third goal of the season, after a clever exchange of passes with Obrian. LA Galaxy attempted to equalize moments later, but Brad Stuver shut the play down with a right leg save.
The Verde & Black continued to apply pressure and doubled their lead in the 19th minute. Obrian applied the finishing touch himself this time, finishing off a quick counterattack that began with an Alex Ring tackle.
LA Galaxy looked to get back in the game in the second half, but Austin's defense held firm to see out a second consecutive shutout and earn the team its fourth win in its last five (5) games. No team in MLS has more points in its last five (5) matches than the Verde & Black.
