AUSTIN, TX Austin Bold FC is excited to announce the signing of goalkeeper Arshia Babazadeh to the 2021 USL Championship roster, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, contract terms will not be released.

"Arshia works incredibly hard. It wasn't just his shot stopping ability that shined through but his infectious personality. Besides being a great keeper, he embodies the team values that we've been building since day one," said Austin Bold FC Head Coach Marcelo Serrano. "We have something special here by creating a positive environment and Arshia heavily contributes to that. We're happy to have him in the squad."

Babazadeh, 25, began his playing career in his native Iran within the academy of Persian Gulf Pro League powerhouse Esteghlal FC. After joining the first team in 2016, Badazadeh helped the side lift the Hazfi Cup and participated in the AFC Champions League. After a season with Thai side Surat Thani FC, the goalkeeper came to the United States to suit up for the Philadelphia Fury of NISA. In 2020, Badazadeh joined NISA club Michigan Stars FC and made three starts as they finished second in the Eastern Conference.

"I'm really happy and grateful to get the opportunity to be part of a great organization. I'll do my best on and off the pitch to help this club to win the championship title this year," said Babazadeh. "Coach Marcelo [Serrano] and Assistant Coach Ryan [Thompson] did a fantastic job in bringing many great players together. We'll definitely fight to win the league this year."

The Bold is back! Austin Bold FC returns to Bold Stadium on May 26 at 8:00 PM to take on Real Monarchs SLC. With single-game tickets starting at $15 and season ticket memberships starting at $190, every member of the Bold Familia has a way to cheer on their neighborhood soccer club.
