Erie, Pa. - A three-goal third period by the Owen Sound Attack was the difference as the Erie Otters lost at home Friday night, 6-3.
The Attack jumped out to a 2-0 lead on their first two shots of the game. The Otters wiped out the deficit in the first period thanks to a pair of power play goals by captain Connor Brown.
Brown put the Otters on the board at 11:16 as he sent in a shot from the left corner behind the goal line, catching Jordan Binnington off guard as the puck went off his right leg for Brown's 11th goal of the season.
The Otters tied the game at two at 14:01 after Connor McDavid faked a wraparound attempt and found Brown in front, and the captain put the puck under the right leg of Binnington for his second goal of the game. McDavid extended his league leading point-scoring streak to 15 games with the assist.
Oscar Dansk stood on his head during the second period as he faced 20 shots, but the Attack took the lead with just over four minutes remaining in the period on Gemel Smith's seventh goal of the season. Dansk made 19 saves in the second period to keep the Otters close.
McDavid tied the game 1:55 into the third period on a great individual effort. He poke checked the puck from Nathan Chiarlitti to start a two-on-one down the left wing. McDavid then fired a shot at the bottom of the left circle from an odd angle and placed it over the right arm of Binnington just under the crossbar for his eighth goal of the season.
The tie was short-lived as Dan Catenacci scored 65 seconds later to put the Attack in front for good. Catenacci and Smith each scored their second goals during the third period to complete the win for Owen Sound.
