Atlético Ottawa secured back-to-back home wins in front of an electric crowd of over 5,000 supporters who braved the weather, as striker Samuel Salter scored the lone goal against Vancouver FC. A dominant first-half performance was enough to ensure the three points as Ottawa supported the Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue for the third consecutive season.

KEY MOMENTS

Atlético Ottawa registered its third win of the 2023 Canadian Premier League season with a 1-0 win at home to Vancouver FC.

Forward Samuel Salter reacted quickest in the box, turning in Miguel Acosta's shot in the 9th minute.

This was Salter's second goal of the season and first-ever goal at TD Place for Atlético which felt "really, really good," according to the 22-year-old striker.

Ottawa had 13 shots (5 on target) in the first period, of which 11 came from inside the penalty area.

Club Captain Carl Haworth made his first start of the season following a return from injury and earned the Gatorade Performance of the Match.

Haworth had led the team in shots on target (2), chances created (3), successful dribbles (2), duels won (10), tackles won (3) and fouls won (3).

Expansion side Vancouver FC, led by Head Coach Afshin Ghotbi, battled well in the second period but weren't able to break down a resolute Ottawa defence.

Vancouver remains bottom of the table on seven (7) points, four (4) adrift of Atleti.

Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue star, Bruce, met hundreds of potential suitors in person as Atlético supported the non-profit organization for the third year in a row.

Anyone wishing to be considered for Bruce, or the dozens of other rescue dogs from EOPR, simply needs to fill out an application on their website.

Head Coach Carlos González's side is now 1 point off fourth-placed Cavalry FC.

Atlético head on a two-week road trip away from home, with matches against third-placed Forge FC followed by first-placed Pacific FC.

Ottawa returns to the capital on July 9, 2023, against Valour FC for some Toonie Hot Dogs.

Attendance: 5,194
