Atlético Ottawa climbed into fourth place in the Canadian Premier League following a massive and hard-fought victory on the road to league leaders Pacific FC as local talent Tyr Walker made his first professional start for his hometown club.

KEY MOMENTS

Atlético Ottawa put in a solid team performance, edging out Pacific FC 1-0 at Starlight Stadium.

Ollie Bassett gave Ottawa a deserved lead in the 38th minute with a brilliant piece of individual play having capitalized on a defensive error.

Bassett has eight goals on the season (11 G/A).

Atlético climbed into fourth place, four points behind Pacific at the top of the table.

Ottawa has won each of its last five matches when taking a 1-0 lead.

Head Coach Carlos González spoke after the match about the team's positive attacking performance in the first half, followed by a resolute defensive display in the second where Ottawa "bent but did not break".

Atlético made 21 tackles, 13 of which were successful as well as making six interceptions as they kept Pacific at bay.

Tyr Walker (19 years old) made his first professional start in the heart of Atlético Ottawa's defence, playing 64 minutes.

Walker, of Russell, ON, graduated from Ottawa St. Anthony Futuro's Academy before being selected for the Atlético de Madrid Development Program operated by Atlético Ottawa and was subsequently rewarded with a U SPORTS contract this season.

This was Walker's third appearance of the season.

During the first half, the 19-year-old led the team in final third entries, touches, passes, duels, duels won, possessions won, tackles, tackles won and clearances.

Atlético Ottawa returns to TD Place action at the end of the month as defending-CPL playoff champions Forge FC visit the capital (KO 7 pm ET, live on OneSoccer).
