Atletico Ottawa Adds Spanish Midfielder Victor Martinez

Ottawa, ON - Atlético Ottawa announces today addition of midfielder Victor Martínez to the club's roster. The 22-year-old from Spain is the fourteenth addition to the club's roster.

Martínez has played in the Spanish 2nd division for the majority of his career and played more than 14 games with Nastic Tarragona on the 18/19 season at the age of 20-21 years old. During his time in the Spanish 2nd division, he has spent time competing against the likes of FC Barcelona and Villareal's B teams.

"We are delighted to announce "Viti" as Atletico Ottawa player, with his addition we continue with our philosophy of supplying top level players to our squad and to attract the best talents to the nation's capital," said club CEO Fernando Lopez. With Víctor, we will make a leap in quality in the midfield and center back of the team. He can play in several positions and we are sure that with his experience playing at a high level in Spain and his variety of skills and resources, will definitely contribute to make a better group on and off the pitch".

The 6'1" midfielder played in the Copa Del Rey in Spain, the Spanish equivalent of the FA Cup or Canadian Championship.

"I am very excited and happy to be in Canada and be part of this club," said Martínez. "I can't wait to start the season and contribute to the success of the team. I hope we can start soon and enjoy football all together at TD Place."

Martínez is the fourteenth player to officially join Atlético Ottawa, joining previous signings Ben Fisk, Antoine Coupland, Malyk Hamilton, Ajay Khabra, Michel Djaozandry, Ricky Gomes, Kunle Dada-Luke, Brandon John, Vashon Neufville, Tevin Shaw, Francisco Acuña, Bernardinho and Nacho Zabal.
