Atlanta's Own Omerettà the Great to Perform at Halftime of WNBA's Dream vs. Sparks Game May 11

May 5, 2022 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) - Atlanta Dream News Release

ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta Dream announced today a collaboration with Atlanta's own Omerettà The Great, who is set to perform at halftime the Dream's home opener against the Los Angeles Sparks on May 11.

"I just want to be able to represent my city and where I come from, I'm Atlanta to the core, and it's important that everyone recognizes that," Omerettà said. "It is important to me for the world to see my authenticity and understand my emotions and where I come from. Women in sports and women in music both have the same struggle when it comes to being accepted. The dope thing about this Atlanta Dream collab is that it represents strong women breaking barriers. "

Omerettà's single, Sorry Not Sorry, garnered millions of views on YouTube, sparking a debate over which areas are and are not considered "Atlanta" throughout the city and across the national music industry earlier this year. The song illustrates the importance of being affiliated with Atlanta and went viral almost immediately, prompting conversation among metro Atlanta social media users and inspiring users from locations such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Detroit to produce their own versions.

The Dream's opening video will be released on May 11 prior to tip off for the team's first game of the season at Gateway Center Arena. A special giveaway for fans in attendance will be announced prior to the game.

"Omerettà let it be known that she was putting on for this city and that's exactly what we aim to do with the Dream," said co-owner and vice president Renee Montgomery. "Atlanta is so unique in so many ways - the music, the sports, and the many cultures make us so proud to rep our city, and we're excited that Omerettà is helping us do just that this season."

On the heels of her recent viral sensation, Omerettà The Great inked a deal with Sparta Distribution-the D.I.Y. distribution platform launched by 300 Entertainment. She will unleash more new music and her anxiously awaited new album under this deal.

Amassing almost 2 million followers on Instagram, she began working with the Atlanta Dream to write and record a song for the Dream's 2022 season. Omerettà is set to perform the song at halftime of the Dream's first home game of the season against Los Angeles on May 11.
