Atlanta Vision News Release

Atlanta, GA. Over 500 fans witnessed the final moments of the Atlanta Vision season opener at the Samson's Fitness and Health Center against the Birmingham Magicians. The defensive plays aided in a Vision victory 89-88. The win marks the beginning of a successful season for the Atlanta Vision . "It is a great way to kick the season off," said Young Dirty, the official Voice of the Atlanta Vision. "The evening began with pre-game entertainment by gospel hip-hop artist, Big Knight. The little Vision fans cheered for the team as they came out on the court for their debut. The young Vision team raced out of the starting block with a 6 point lead, but was quickly halted by the experienced Birmingham Magicians who took a lead of over 13 points in the first half. However, the Vision remained consistent in their goal to win, despite being down by 7 points to begin the second half - and the season was officially on.

Vision defense made a statement by staying on top of the ball and regular rebounds. The team showed its unity as shots fell readily from point guards Kendrick "Undisputed" Jones, Stanley "The Closer" Jackson, and Chris "Blueprint" Jackson, who led the Vision as leading scorers with 20, 19 and 18 points respectively. "Birmingham is a sold team, but we moved consistently during the first half of the game and picked up the speed during the second half," commented head coach Kevin Whitted. "Our guys are determined and it shows." GM Dennis Scott was on hand to evaluate the first game of the new Vision team. "We have some minor adjustments to make, but I am always pleased with a win," stated Scott.

Known for affordable family entertainment, fans received giveaways throughout the game from the official radio station for the Atlanta Vision, 680 The Fan, and movie passes to Paramounts Yours, Mine and Ours. During halftime, Leander Howard, a Lithonia resident participated in the "AmeriSuites Shot Old School Free Throw" contest and won a weekend stay at the local hotel. Fans were also entertained by the Atlanta Vision Dance Team and performed the Cha-Cha Slide with the beautiful ladies during the "Vision 4th Quarter Boogie." The opening night ended with an autograph session for the fans by the players and dance team.

The Atlanta Vision will prepare for a three game back-to-back weekend as they take on the Baltimore Pearls on December 9th and the Florida Pit Bulls on December 10th and 11th at the Samson's Health and Fitness Center, 6400 Woodrow Road, Lithonia, GA. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased on line.
