Slam debuts at home Tuesday
November 21, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Bellingham, WA. The ABA Bellingham Slam, coming off a grueling three game road trip to southern California, will make their home debut Tuesday evening at 7pm at Whatcom Pavilion against the Bellevue Blackhawks. The Slam played three games in three days in southern California over the weekend, coming up just short in each game. Each game was decided by seven points or fewer. The Slam played the LA Aftershock on Friday and Saturday nights and fell by the scores of 119-114 and 117-113. The road trip wrapped up with a 102-105 loss to Beijing Aoshen Olympian on Sunday afternoon in a game played in Maywood, California. The losses bring the Slam's regular season record to 0-3. Of the 17 ABA games played over the weekend, home teams won fifteen.
On Tuesday night, the Slam face a Bellevue team that advanced to the ABA championship game last season. Bellevue, however, was upended by the expansion Tacoma Navigators, 139-101, in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night.
KPUG 1170 AM will help kick things off on opening night as Doug Lange and Mark Scholten will broadcast The Zone radio show from Whatcom Pavilion on Tuesday afternoon from 3-530pm. Fans are encouraged to stop by to enter to win Slam tickets and merchandise throughout the show. Fans can also swing by the Pavilion during that time to purchase tickets to the game later than night. Whatcom Pavilion is located near the Guide Meridian on Kellogg Road, just west of Cordata Parkway.
Tip-off for tonight's game is 7pm. The doors will open at 6pm. The first 500 fans into the game will receive a free pair of noise-making thundersticks and fans who purchase a game program will have a chance to win a pair of round-trip tickets to Las Vegas on Allegiant Air.
