ABA introduces Power Rankings

November 21, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today introduced its Power Rankings as the teams vie for the single-elimination playoffs in March. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We'll announce the Top 16 teams each week. These teams will receive an automatic first round home game in the playoffs. The Indiana Alley Cats with their 6-0 record have the honor of being the first team to lead the Power Rankings. The rankings are based on the record, difficulty of schedule and other criteria but we believe they represent the best teams in the league. And we will update the Power Rankings weekly.

Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP added, "There will be 32 teams qualifying for the playoffs. The other 16 teams will be based on the same criteria which should provide the strongest teams at playoff time. The highest remaining seed will have the home playoff game until we reach the Final Four which will be played this year at the new home of the Texas Tycoons."
