ATLANTA - Atlanta United 2 today announced that it has signed forward Tyler Young to an MLS NEXT Pro contract for the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval. The former Campbell University standout was the No. 36 overall pick of Atlanta United in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.

Young, 22, was a two-time Big South Offensive Player of the Year and two-time All-South Region performer at Campbell University. He started 41 of his 49 appearances over three seasons, tallying 18 goals and 21 assists. The midfielder scored four goals and added three assists as a redshirt freshman in 2020-21, earning Big South All-Freshman Team honors. He went on to record nine goals and nine assists in 18 appearances as a redshirt sophomore in 2021, where he was named Big South Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Big South and Second-Team All-South Region after leading the conference in points (27).

The Troutman, North Carolina native closed out his college career with five goals and nine assists in 20 appearances this past season, again earning Big South Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Big South and Third-Team All-South Region honors. Young helped guide Campbell to back-to-back Big South Regular Season championships in 2021 and 2022 as well as the 2021 Big South conference tournament.
