A's Drop Third in a Row on the Road to Mill Rats

February 5, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release

ST. JOHN, NB.- The Brampton A's travelled to the East Coast to take on the Mill Rats of St. John Thursday night. After dominating the majority of the first half, the A's fell 111-106 to the Mill Rats. The A's now sit at 12-13 on the season.

The A's started the game with a three-point bucket by Kyle Johnson. From there, Brampton displayed a fluid ball movement from player to player that led to a number of dunks and open jumpers. Teamwork, the name of the game for the A's' early on allowed for a double-digit lead for the majority of the first half. It appeared that Brampton possessed full control of the contest until a run sparked by the Mill Rats in the final minutes of the first stint fueled a one point lead for the home team at the half.

Statistically, the A's performed well in the first half shooting 41 percent from three-point range, and holding St. John to 36 percent shooting from the field. Three A's scored in double figures heading into the locker room; K. Johnson (13 points), Richard Amardi (11 points), and Akeem Scott (10 points). The Mill Rats were led by Jeremy Williams with nine points.

The Mill Rats began the second half with a 10-0 run before the A's called a timeout. The A's could not challenge the energetic home team enough to regain its initial lead. Brampton managed to get within four points toward the end of play, but, could not make up for the costly turnovers from the third quarter.

Amardi finished the game with 24 points, while K. Johnson followed with 23 points. Scott recorded a game-high 11 assists. Alex Johnson led St. John with 19 points.

The A's will conclude their road trip against the Halifax Rainmen tomorrow for a 6pm contest. A live stream will be available via www.bramptonas.ca. Join the A's for their next home game, February 15th, for Family Fun Day. For ticket information contact tickets@bramptonas.ca.
