Potomac Nationals News Release

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On Saturday May 2, P-Nats' owner and first base coach Art Silber will be joining Phil Wood's radio show on MASN TV/ESPN 1300 to discuss a myriad of topics pertaining to Mr. Silber's ownership of the ballclub as well as the history of baseball in Potomac, culminating in the club's third Carolina League championship in 2008.

Many successful Major League players have passed through the gates of Pfitzner Stadium wearing Potomac across their chests including Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols, Andy Pettite, Jorge Posada, and Magglio Ordonez as well as current Washington Nationals players John Lannan, Jordan Zimmermann, and Shairon Martis.

There will be no shortage of discussion topics for Mr. Silber including the ups and downs of owning a Minor League baseball team and whether or not Art will be the last "42" in professional baseball.

The number 42 has been retired all throughout the Major and Minor League ranks in honor of Jackie Robinson, a boyhood hero and friend to Mr. Silber. At the time the number was retired, all players and coaches currently donning a "42" jersey for their respective teams were allowed to continue wearing the number. Now, only two men carry the distinction of bearing those hallowed digits: future Hall-of-Fame New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera and Art Silber.

Art will be joining Phil Wood for his morning radio show with Mr. Silber scheduled to make an hour-long appearance beginning around 11:20 a.m.

The P-Nats will take part in a doubleheader at Pfitzner Stadium on Thursday with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 ET. Lefty Tom Milone will toe the rubber in game one for the P-Nats while right-hander Jeff Mandel gets the nod in game two.
