A low scoring game turned out to be a pitcher's duel as well. Long Beach jumped out to an early lead in the third then Edmonton would tie it at 1-1 in the sixth. The Armada would win with a walk off base hit in the seventh to win Game 1 2-1.

Garrett Murdy (1-0) in his first start this season pitched a great game. Going the distance 7 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 10. That will help towards a rotation spot. The bats were on fire as RF Chris Klemm went 3 for 3 with a RBI double in the third. 2B/SS Michael Glomb went 1 for 3 with the walk off base hit in the seventh to score C Octavio Martinez.

Edmonton starter Jorge DePaula was also great making his GBL debut. DePaula went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 8. Kevin Altman ( 3-1) pitched the seventh getting the loss going 1/3 inning giving up 1 run on 2 hits. RF Ruddy Yan was 2 for 3 doubling in LF Marcus Nettles in the sixth. DH Carlos Arroyo went 2 for 3 with a double.

Probable pitchers Game 2 for Edmonton Chris Cullen (3-0) and for Long Beach Rik Currier (5-4).

A back and forth game was finally decided in the sixth as Long Beach scored five runs with two outs in the inning. Edmonton had a 5-4 lead going into the sixth, but Long Beach would not be stopped as they pulled ahead winning the second game of the doubleheader 9-6.

Rik Currier (6-4) pitched another good game at Blair Field. Now 6-0 at Blair, he went 6 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits, walking 3 and striking out 6. Nick Cavanagh came in the seventh to finish the game giving up 1 unearned run on 1 hit and walking 1.

The Armada bats were alive an well in Game 2 with a three run fourth and five run sixth. RF Chris Klemm in his final professional game went 2 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. His RBI base hit in the sixth tied the game at 5. 3B Ryan Lehr went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI and a run scored. CF Steve Moss, 1B Norm Hutchins, DH Brett Flowers, C David Ramirez and SS Michael Glomb each drove in a run.

Edmonton starter Chris Cullen pitched a no decision going 4 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, walking 4 and striking out 1. Dan Touchet got the loss pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. 1B Joe Jiannetti went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and two runs scored. RF Ruddy Yan, LF Carlos Arroyo, CF Chris Van Rossum and SS Jonathan Castro would each drive in a run.
