Arkansas Aeros News Release
SPRINGDALE - Curtis Haywood of the Arkansas Aeros was named Wednesday to the American Basketball Association All-Star Game to be played Jan. 28th in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Haywood, who played his college ball at Oklahoma City University, has helped lead the Aeros to a 17-2 record in their first year in the ABA and to the top spot in the league's Power Rankings for the last six weeks. He'll join Bob Hoffman on the West squad for the All-Star Game. Hoffman was named head coach of the team earlier in the week.
The Aeros Jarred Merrill was also named an alternate in the contest. Merrill is currently awaiting notification from the league to determine if he'll be a participant in the weekend-long all-star activities.
A 6-7, 190-pound swingman, Haywood currently leads the Aeros in nearly every offensive category. He has high games this year of 44 points, 20 rebounds and 14 assists and is shooting an incredible 49.7% from three-point range. He capped the end of 2006 with a triple-double in a Dec. 30 victory over Houston.
