
Anderson Champions owner to speak at MLK celebration

Anderson, IN. Anderson Indiana's citywide celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day will pay tribute to James Cameron, the first president of the NAACP Madison County Branch, Monday, January 15th at 12n at the Paramount Theatre in Anderson. Architect Jesse Wilkerson, owner of the ABA Anderson Champions, will direct a message "Carrying the Torch" to young people in the audience. Carol "Cissy" King of Church Upon the Rock Baptist Church will serve as music director of the event, leading adult and youth community choirs during the service. Children from Excel Academy will participate in singing the anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and will recite a portion of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
Anderson Mayor Kevin S. Smith, Congressman Mike Pence and Tony Kirkland of Governor Mitch Daniel's office, will play a part in the service. D Wesley Poythress, Director of Multicultural Services at Anderson University will be Master of Ceremonies.
