Arizona United SC Signs Defender Romeo Filipovic

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (July 29, 2015) - Today, Arizona United SC announced the signing of Romeo Filipovic, an experienced defender with professional experience in 11 different countries. His most-recent club was USL side Orange County Blues FC.

"My goal is to help bring the team to the playoffs," Filipovic said. "I hope I can make an impact in this short time. . .I think I can help this team go one step further."

Filipovic began his soccer career playing in the youth system of German clubs Schalke 04, Rot-Weiss Essen and MSV Duisburg. He made his professional debut with German side VfB Homburg during the 2005-06 season. Over the course of his career, Filipovic has played professionally in Germany, Romania, Austria, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Scotland, Indonesia, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland and, most recently, in the United States.

At the OC Blues, the German-born defender appeared and started in four matches for a total of 360 minutes. His lone point this season, an assist, came against Arizona Untied SC on April 18.

"He's an experienced guy who has played in a lot of places," said Arizona United SC head coach Michael Dellorusso. "He's mature and he has certain standards of his own that will hopefully raise the group's standards and we look forward to him getting on the field for us and raising our overall level."
