Phoenix Rising FC News Release

PHOENIX - Arizona United Soccer Club, Arizona's only professional soccer franchise, today announced it has named Brett M. Johnson president and co-chairman. Johnson, founder and CEO of Benevolent Capital and the Managing Director of Zealot Networks, will be a significant investment partner with CEO, co-chairman and current owner, Kyle Eng. Eng continues to be recognized by USL as the primary owner and governor of the club, while Johnson will serve as the team's alternate governor.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brett to our team," said Eng. "Since my initial investment and launch of Arizona United SC, our objective is to build the finest USL club in the league and eventually secure a spot on the short-list of Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion markets. With Brett's leadership as investor and partner, I'm confident that we will establish an investor group, capital base and fan support that places us among the top clubs in USL."

As president and co-chairman, Johnson will spearhead the club's efforts towards launching a capital campaign to fund the continued investment in the organization and to further build upon the success and momentum of the team.

"As a longstanding supporter of soccer in the United States and a deep-rooted member of the Phoenix community, I'm thrilled to not only help promote Arizona United's position as the premier soccer organization in the Southwest but also assist in catapulting this organization and the passionate Phoenix soccer community onto the national stage." said Johnson. "I'm so excited to be a part of what Kyle is building."

Johnson and his extended family have more than 40 years of history in the Phoenix area as homeowners. He brings a wealth of experience as both an operator and director of several large multi-national private and public companies, and as an investor through his fund, Benevolent Capital Partners.
