Arizona Rattlers vs Tampa Bay Storm Week 3 Game Notes

Phoenix, Ariz. - The five time world champion Arizona Rattlers (2-0) return home for the first time this season on Saturday. They will take on the five time world champion Tampa Bay Storm (0-2).

The Rattlers are coming off another impressive performance, beating the LA KISS last Saturday at the Staples Center in Anaheim.

The offense again looked impressive, with fullback Mykel Benson scoring three more touchdowns on the ground, and wide receiver Rod Windsor scoring five more touchdowns in the air. Windsor earned the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the week award for his efforts.

Equally impressive was the Rattlers defense, who once again only allowed 28 points. Defensive back Arkeith Brown started the third quarter picking off KISS quarterback Nathan Stanley, and defensive back Allen Chapman pulled down two more in the fourth. Defensive end Luis Vasquez earned two more sacks, and now leads the entire Arena Football League (AFL) in sacks with 4.

The Tampa Bay Storm, on the other hand, are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Cleveland Gladiators. The Storm were trailing by five with 18 seconds to go. It was 1st and Goal from Cleveland's 4-yard line, when Storm quarterback Jonathon Bane's pass was intercepted by Gladiator's defensive back Joe Powell and returned for a touchdown.

Saturday's game will pit two teams that seem to be headed in opposite directions. The Rattlers lead in both Offensive and defensive scoring, while the Storm are last in both categories. The Rattlers have a quarterback that has been with the team for six seasons, while the Storm has two quarterbacks who are new to the system.

While the Rattlers have a reason to be confident, Tampa Bay is one of the most successful franchises in the AFL and have always played Arizona tough.

The game will be played at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, April 16, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, and can be seen online at ESPN3.com or WatchESPN on a tablet or smartphone.
