Arizona Hotshots News Release

TODAY'S NEWS

At the second practice of the new year, the Hotshots continued to install coach Neuheisel's fast paced offense. With only a 30-second play clock in the Alliance, the new offense will require a quick pace.

Right at home, Quarterback Trevor Knight returns to his hometown for his first AAF Training Camp. Knight's father, George attended Southwest High School and and later helped coach the Dragons and 1990 Heisman Trophy-winner Ty Detmer while he attended the school.

73 of the 75 players practiced in full today, with newly acquired wide receiver Josh Huff and linebacker Scooby Wright missing practice with illnesses.

A member of The Alliance of American Football, The Arizona Hotshots are led by an experienced professional coaching staff and front office. The Hotshots feature Arizona native Rick Neuheisel as head coach and long-time NFL front office executive Phil Savage as General Manager.

The Arizona Hotshots team headquarters while in training camp in San Antonio will be the Holiday Inn Riverwalk in San Antonio with practices being conducted at Southwest High School.

YOU HEARD IT FROM THE HOTSHOTS:

Coach Neuheisel on practice banter:

"It's football. We got the right guys. It can't just be all talk. We got to back it up, but we want competitive zero. You want competitive kids that are excited about it. This is an opportunity league. It's based on giving chances whether it be front office people, coaches or players."

Coach Neuheisel on day two:

They all understand this is their opportunity to continue something they love. If it doesn't work out, then hopefully they are on to something they are equally excited about. There is no lack of enthusiasm here. That's a fact.

Coach Neuheisel on the Alliance meeting:

Charlie Ebersol did this league meeting the other night and made a statement that I thought was really telling. 78% of the kids playing in this league have graduated 4-year colleges. That's way over the national norm, the national percentage. So, these are not only try-hard, want to play type guys. They are also very intelligent.
