Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that it has signed the 24th overall pick from the 2012 CFL Draft, LB Herve Tonye-Tonye (pro: HER-VAY TONE-YAY TONE-YAY).

Commented Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, "We are excited to sign another player from our futures pipeline. Herve has been a solid contributor in the NCAA and had a great senior season at Northern Colorado. We expect him to compete for a roster spot at this year's training camp."

Tonye-Tonye, who grew up in Montreal but was born in Cameroon, was drafted in the fourth round, 24th overall, by the Toronto Argonauts in last year's CFL Draft. He played one season at the University of Northern Colorado after transferring from Alcorn State following the 2010 season. In his lone season at Northern Colorado, Tonye-Tonye finished with 80 tackles and one interception in 11 games.

Commented Tonye-Tonye, "This is the perfect scenario. I am so happy and excited to be so close to home and playing the sport I love. My whole life I have been saying, 'Bosse dur gagne gros,' which translates to, 'Work hard, win big.' And after working so hard all of my life, it is now beginning to pay off. I will not let this opportunity slip away."

The Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, celebrating their 140th anniversary in 2013. As Toronto's #1 community team through player involvement and community programs, the Toronto Argonauts, a member of the Canadian Football League (CFL), have 16 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
