Everett AquaSox News Release
Yakima, WASH. - The Everett AquaSox endured a four run Yakima seventh inning Tuesday night but held on for a 5-4 win.
Everett built an early lead for starter Shawn Nottingham(1-0), which grew to 5-0 in the seventh following a two-out two-run double by Everett second baseman Yung-Chi Chen. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Yakima right fielder Carlos Gonzalez belted a three-run home run to center against Everett reliever Chad Fillinger.
Nottingham became the third Everett starter to qualify for a win this season without allowing a run. He yielded just five singles in six innings of work while striking out six. Seattle Mariners fifth round pick Mark Lowe worked a scoreless ninth for his first pro save.
Bryan LaHair added two more doubles for the AquaSox and now leads the team with six.
