Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT - The AquaSox pulled out a victory in a special 11:05 am start snapping a four game losing streak and beating Vancouver 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at Everett Memorial Stadium.
The Frogs made a great showing with strong defense and solid pitching out of starter Alfredo Venegas and relievers Brandon McKerney and Bryan Harris. Venegas, Everett's player of the game, earned his first win of the season; striking out 7 while allowing only 1 run, 1 hit and 3 walks in 6 innings. Harris, who earned the save (1), got 3 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk, no hits and no runs in two innings.
Sox batters combined for 12 hits with all but two players in the lineup contributing at least one hit. Welington Dotel, Kalian Sams and Gregory Halman each had multi-hit games for Everett, most notably Sams who hit his first home run of the season in the 8th inning to give Everett the 5-3 lead and provide some cushion.
Everett travels to Spokane for five games versus the Indians followed by three more at Vancouver and will return from the road trip for a five game series versus Tri-City beginning Friday, August 3rd and running though Tuesday, August 7th.
Note: August 7th will be a special 12:05 pm start for Business Day.
