Everett AquaSox News Release
BOISE, Idaho - With two games to go in the Northwest League season's first half, the Everett AquaSox have a magic number of one to clinch the North Division first half title. While the Frogs fell in Boise 9-0 on Saturday night, the Eugene Emeralds eked out a 10 inning win, 2-1, over the Tri-City Dust Devils at Gesa Stadium.
The AquaSox can claim a playoff berth with one win in their final two games in Boise; or, a Tri-City and Vancouver loss in one of their final two games before the end of the half. The Spokane Indians were eliminated from contention after their 11-8 loss at Salem Keizer on Saturday.
The AquaSox could muster just four hits against three Boise pitchers. Starter Justin Valdespina (1-0) blanked the AquaSox for five innings. He allowed two singles, walked two and struck out two while throwing 62 pitches.
Boise scored in every inning from the second through the seventh. The Hawks also belted four home runs - one each from Willie MacIver, Aubrey McCarty, Jeff Bohling, and Luke Morgan.
Charlie McConnell batted 2-for-4 for the AquaSox.
