Wenatchee AppleSox News Release
(Wenatchee, Wash.)- The AppleSox are set to welcome the Corvallis Knights to Paul Thomas, Sr. Stadium tonight at 7:05 pm.
Wenatchee (4-2) is currently riding a two-game winning streak after taking two games from the Bend Elks (2-2), 8-1 and 7-4, respectively. The 7-4 win on Wednesday clinched the series for the Sox. They split their season-opening series with Bellingham at two games apiece.
The series vs. Bend was originally scheduled for three games, but rain postponed the series finale to a date unknown at this time.
The AppleSox, struggling with depth issues due to a plethora of players who still haven't arrived, seemed to find some stability on Wednesday night vs. Bend. Elks pitcher J.R. Bunda had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning, but Mitchell Gunsolus hit a lead-off triple in the bottom of the inning, and the bats came alive to aid the Sox to the three-run victory. Yakima Valley Community College's Jake Fife posted nine strikeouts for Wenatchee.
Corvallis (4-1) comes into this series with a two-game winning streak of their own after two wins over Klamath Falls (0-4). Corvallis won the 2011 WCL championship and currently has a half-game lead over Wenatchee and Kitsap for the best record in the league.
Game tickets can be purchased online at www.applesox.com or in advance at the Town Toyota Center box office in Wenatchee. Tickets are also available for purchase on the day of the game at the Paul Thomas, Sr. Stadium ticket booth, which opens an hour before each game.
