Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Wenatchee, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (5-6) and the Wenatchee Applesox (4-7) fought back and forth through 12 innings before the Applesox walked-off and won 5-4.

The Sweets took the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI by Chris McCready (San Diego) and an RBI single by Clayten Ayres (Georgia College and State). Wenatchee got a two-run home run in the bottom half to tie the score at two.

Walla Walla then tacked on two more runs in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Villanueva (Fresno Pacific) and an RBI single by Hayden Duer (Cal State Monterey Bay), but the Applesox came back with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 4-3 Sweets.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, the Applesox hit a game-tying home run to make it 4-4.

The two teams battled through extra innings and Wenatchee broke through in the 12th with an RBI single up the middle to win it for the Applesox.

Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) and AJ Carkner (Pikeville) both shined out of the bullpen for the Sweets. After Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) gave the Sweets six innings in his start and just gave up one earned, the Sweets went to Carkner. He and Narahara combined for 10 strikeouts in five and two thirds innings, but they gave up the tying and winning runs.

The Sweets will look to salvage a game in the series tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. at Paul Thomas Sr Baseball Stadium. 2015 WCL All-Star Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) will take the hill for the Sweets.
